Night At The Races 2018

Want to spend a night betting the ponies and perhaps have some dinner in the process? Perhaps you prefer to spend your time gambling in the casino. You can do both at Team Big Jim's, A Night at the Races 2018 fundraiser!

Where: Charles Town Race Track (map/direction)
Date: May 19, 2018
Time: 5:45 pm

Our "Night at the Races" fundraiser this year will be on Saturday, May 19th. Last year at our second annual "Night at the Races" fundraiser we brought in over $700 towards fighting pancreatic cancer. Maybe this year we will have even better luck handicapping and we can win more money towards our overall goal of topping last years fundraising total. With only a few weeks remaining until the PurpleStride 5K we are still over $6,000 short of last year's fundraising total. If you haven't signed up to join Team Big Jim in the PurpleStride 5K yet or if you would like to make a general donation you can do so at

Like last year our "Night at the Races" fundraiser is also going to fall on the same day as the Preakness Stakes. Charles Town accepts wagers on the Preakness which will go off just before the first race at Charles Town. Arrive early to wager on and watch the Preakness and then stay for the main event - the purse which will be the sixth race on the Charles Town card. The Skyline Terrace opens at 5:30 PM. Our reservation is for 5:45 PM. Post time for the Preakness is 6:45 PM. Post time for the purse will a little after 9 PM.

Team Big Jim - Racing to beat pancreatic cancer

Some of us will be getting a table for the evening in the Skyline Terrace that overlooks the race track for the evening. I believe there is a $25 minimum charge per seat at the table. Food and alcohol purchases DO apply towards that minimum charge. There is a Prime Rib and Seafood Buffet for $26.95 or you can order off the a la carte menu. If you would like me to add a seat for you to the Team Big Jim table reservation please email as soon as possible.

Hopefully some of the handicapping skills Jim displayed at Charles Town over the years rubbed off on us and we can cash a few tickets. Don't forget, if horses aren't your thing there are also slot machines and table games available on site.
